mouth odor

my husband has developed and an alcohol odor on his breath but he doesn't drink. Could his decayed theeth cause this?

As a diabetic and non-medical person, I suggest screening for diabetes or being pre-diabetic - it's always a good idea to have things checked when there seems to be a change that lasts.  Best case, they say nothing is wrong and the peace of mind from that is wonderful.

Diabetes is my first thought as well.  Also note any new prescriptions he may be taking.  He should brush 2x a day, floss at least 1x a day, and brush his tongue just to rule out those possibilities, plus its a good habit to develop :D
