mr.ed teeth

In March Iwas to get my new set of dentures, I had to wait 3 weeks. When I first got them I told the dentist right away that they were too big so he sent them back for adjustments. 3wks later ;still too big. The dentist told me to wear them for 2 weeks. I could not wear them it hurt and it felt like it was messing with my sinuses and they looked like Mr. Ed teeth. He made a new impression and now gave me a wax pair to try, They are still to big. He and his helper said they look really nice and that my upper lip wasnt right and he needed to build it out.I dont want to by ugly teeth that dont fit. Is it the Dentist that is messing up or is he having acheep or students making them?

It can be both.  The dentures may be too big but at the same time, it may be difficult to adjust to having a denture initially due to having a foreign object in your mouth.  Is it causing you to gag or anything else?  Usually most patients can tolerate a denture after a period of adjusting to it.  If you do feel that its too large, you may need to discuss your concern with your dentist about reducing the size of the teeth and possibly reducing the size of the denture base so that it doesn't impinge or push on any tissues.  Your dentist will probably need to continue adjusting it to get it right for you.

How many visits did you need to go to before the denture was completed the first time?  Is this a complete denture or do you have a partial denture that fits on some existing teeth in your mouth?

Hello,

Many thanks for posting your question. It sounds that this may be the condition of ill fitted denture and this condition arises after not taking correct impression, biting etc. Sometimes one may have a foreign body experience for about two to three weeks after fitting a denture.  However, without being able to see you in clinic it is hard to say anything precisely. Please see your treating dentist to reach at appropriate cure. Hope this information proves helpful to you.
