my tooth left exposed

Help!  After my dentist prepared my crown, she left the temporary filling off for two weeks.  She said because she fitting me for bottom dentures and that would mess up the bite. I think she just didn't have the time and now 2 months later my tooth i abcessed.  Could she be at fault?

Its hard to say.  How was the tooth before the crown was prepared?  Its possible the tooth had a big cavity and was likely infected prior to treatment.  Its odd though that she didn't put a temporary on there though.  Is the crown in at this time?
