numbness

I went to the oral surgeon April the 6th and he hit a nurve my tounge and part of my left jaw is still numb as well as part of my bottom lip I know that he hit a nurve because i felt a jolt of electricity go threw my body could this be permanent?  Oh I was having a root canal bttom left side when this happened.

Its possible that it may be permanent.  It can take up to six months for complete return of nerve sensation.

How did the surgeon hit the nerve, while numbing you or doing the root canal? Is your numbness getting better ?

He numb me while giving me shots to do the root canal it is some better but not a lot i was wondering if this could be permanent

If your tongue is numb, that means this happened because of the injection and not the root canal. If you are getting better ,that's a very good sign that it's recovering. Did you talk to the oral surgeon about this?  It might take another 6 months or more to recover  fully.
