*ouchie* recurring canker sores! :(

*ouchie* recurring canker sores! :(

I am a pretty healthy 17 year old 2 weeks till I'm 18. I just graduated HS a month ago and got kicked out of my parents house the very same day. I do not have medical insurance since my parents had me covered. So basically I do not have the money to go to a Dr... :( now the problem is about 2 weeks ago I got a canker sore on the inside left bottom lip that went away last Monday lasted about 6-8 days. I was so relieved!!! But... On Sunday I found not one but TWO painful canker sores one bigger one on the inside bottom left lip (irritated my my teeth) and smaller one right above it on my upper lip(inside as well). I have researced everything but seem to get no real help for people who cannot get a prescription... I've used peroxide and sea salt water (not combined) and those VERY temporarily reduce the pain. I cannot eat and I cannot sleep through the night. Any suggestions for an OTC medication that works for pain and swelling.

Other symptoms is my throat is easily irritated, the underneath part of my neck (the gobble gobble part) is really swollen and tender, and my face and lips are WAY swollen... Help me!!!

Thanks! :)

first of all, the thing that pops in my head is that you are having these canker sores from stress..being kicked out will do that. How do I know? Because when I was your age, I had the same experience.   Canker sores seem to be more common in teens, if you and I , and my step son are a good example. There is a newer product that is OTC that "forms a patch" over the sore.  (there is an even better one, that has to be prescribed, and for some stupid reason, my dentist won't)..that is who told me about the OTC one. I believe she said Orabase is the brand name. They make different products so be sure to get the one that says it forms a protective patch. I did use some and it is about the best OTC relief for this problem that I've found. They make the stuff in a form that will stick to moist mouth places. Be sure if you try it, that when you apply it, you don't "wipe" it on.  Put it on your fingertip or cotton swab, and just dab it on without smearing it, so it will stay there. Try not to touch it with your tongue for at least a moment or so.
I have also heard that certain foods make these sores , such as nuts..
Canker sores can really be irritating, I know.
p.s. I hope you can make ammends with your parents. I know that's hard.
p.s.s. love the gobble gobble comment; I'll have to remember that.
