pain after crown lengthening

pain after crown lengthening

I had a crown lengthening procedure 3 weeks ago.  I was fine until 3 days ago when I developed pain and swelling in my lower jaw.  The procedure was done to my upper teeth.  I saw the dentist that next day and he took xrays and said that the tooth was healing well but my lymph node was swollen.  He put me on cipro.  I took it for 24 hours and woke up today with increased pain which now hurts when I open my mouth or smile and extends now to my upper cheek bone.  I had chills last night and a rapid heart rate but wasn't sure if it was from the antibiotic since I also feel nauseous.  I called the dentist today and he is changing my antibiotic to clindamycin.  Is there something more severe going on?  The pain is not relieved by tylenol any longer.

Look up Trigeminal Neuralgia on the internet.  Does the picture you see there describe the area of pain?

It may be a nerve problem.  Use moist heat for relief and visit your medical doctor to discuss is what my advice is. You may need a different treatment than Tylenol or advil.
