pain after crown

I had a tooth that apparently needed a crown.  The dentist had a hard time grinding the tooth away because it was way back and I have a small mouth.  The temporary crown was very painful.  It cracked and sheared off...the dentist fixed that.  I still had considerable pain in that and other parts of my mouth.  I went back and he put the permanent crown on.  After the novacaine wore off,  I had cold sensitivity and pain from that and other teeth around it.  it doesn't hurt to bite down too much...but the two teeth beside it, one on the top and one on the bottom are sensitive and throbbing.  Should I give it a few days or go back to that dentist or another dentist?

Seeing an occlusionist or prosthodontist s advised,if your dentist can not adjust bite optimally.
