pain after filling replaced

pain after filling replaced

On Tuesday afternoon I had a filling replaced.  There was a piece of the silver filling that had broken off and it was refilled with the white composite.  Since then I have had basically a toothache.  It's not horrible but it's there.  I don't feel like the filling is high because it doesn't hurt when I bite/chew on it just aches constantly.  I can take 1-2 advil and it totally goes away for about 6-8 hours.  The dentist did not tell me if it was a deep filling or not, it was a 3 surface one I do know that much.  I am just wondering if I should give it more time, it's been 4 days now or call my dentist.

Call your dentist and explain what is going on. It is a filling and you should not have any pain at all. If the is very deep he/she should not have filled it it should have been extratced because when it is very deep it is very close to nerve. The filling may be touching the nerve. Go back to the dentit and  have the tooth extratced.
