pain after filling

pain after filling

On Monday I visited my dentist for 2 fillings. He wanted to do the fillings without an injection but last year I had a filling next to one of the broken teeth being filled and due to the pain and sensitivity I asked for an injection. The first injection numbed the left side well enough for the filling to be done, as soon as the water was applied to the right hand side (wherer the previous filling had been done) the pain was unbearable and the injection hadn't worked so he put in a third injection this was very painful and he explained it would numb my tongue, lips etc, which it did and he filled the tooth. I was due to return on Wednesday for preparation for a crown on the tooth that was next to the one on the right and the one that was filled last year but this filling fell out weeks later, but as I'd had no pain  and I decided to leave it. The dentist cancelled the appointment due to illness (previous appointments have been cancelled due to illness over the last month) and I called to explain that I was in a great deal of pain, I was told they would try to fit me in with my dentist on Thursday or with another in the practise. On Thursday they called with 1 appointment I was unable to make, I asked if I could be called if there was a cancellation and would be seen by anyone at the practise. I got a call on Friday and was told my dentist was fully booked and I couldn't be seen by another dentist I had to be seen by my own. I have gone 4 nights with disturbed sleep due to the immense pain and for the first time in my life I've resorted to taking sleeping tablets. The pain doesn't appear to be just where the filling was done, it radiates across the jaw line and at times my throat seems painful. I don't want to drink and eat as this makes the pain worse, paracetomol aren't working but I am taking them hoping it will help. I have to wait till Monday, this will be a full week in pain I would apprecaite any suggestions please. A

Sorry for the late reply.  How is the situation now?  It sounds like it may be the broken tooth that may be flaring up possibly.  Is the broken tooth next to the filling that was done on the right side?
