pain after root canal and filling

I recently had a root canal and had an old filling replaced with a new one, both are next to each other. Everything went well and I had no lasting pain. I went in this week to get the permanent crown put on my root canal tooth, and now I have been in pain ever since. The dentist flossed around the crown and between the tooth with the new filling and I instantly felt pain. The pain goes all the way down to the jaw. I told the dentist and he said it should go away in a few days. I do not understand how it felt fine before, and now it is in pain. I would appreciate any help because now I am fearful of going back. thanks

I believe it is the tooth with the replaced filling. It is a large filling, but it did not hurt until I came in for my following appointment to get the crown put on the root canal tooth. This was a few weeks later. It felt fine before, but after the crown was put on, he flossed around the two teeth, and it really felt like he wiggled nerves under the tooth. It was intense pain. There is a nerve in my cheek that poofs out when the pain is intense. I do not know if there is pressure on the nerve or not. It took alot for me to go to the dentist because I have alot of dental anxiety. I am thinking of going to a different dentist. Also, when he gave me a pain shot, for root canal, I believe one went in a nerve because it felt like my entire face was shocked. The pain from that went away, so I do not think it is related. I hate to sound like a baby, but the pain is consuming my life. I went to the dentist to get rid of the pain, and now I am back where I started. Thank you

Are you sure the pain is comong from the crowned tooth or the tooth recently filled. What type of filling was placed and was the cavity deep. If it was a white filling sometimes these take longer to calm down. I would go back to check things out.
