pain after tooth crown pre[

I had a tooth prepped for a crown yesterday...and had two shots, and then a block.  Am not sure what a block is..but it was given after I was experiencing pain during the drilling.  Now, when I got home...the pain was terrible.  I feel like the dentist drilled my tongue, and my gums...is this possible...and when will I feel better.  Today, I can barely talk..and feel like a big baby....I have taken pain killers last night and today.  That is the only relief I can get...how long will this last?
My crown is due to be put on September 26.  Never had this happen before...it was on the last tooth in my lower jaw.

Check your tongue, it is possible that you might have bit it before the anesthesia wore off or it was traumatized during the preparation of the tooth.Either way it will take a few days for it to heal. Warm salt water rinses would tend to help.
