pain after wisdom teeth surgery

by stickboy, Nov 03, 2007 12:00AM
i had 4 wisdom teeth pulled 9 days ago. they were all impacted. a lot of the swelling is gone on my face except for 2 knots the size of quarters in each cheek. they are severly sore to the touch. i still have some swelling on my gums but not much. what could be the cause of the knots and why can't i barely open my mouth still?

The knots maybe  a residual infection. The trismus which is the difficulty in opening your jaw can be from the trauma of the extractions and or the injections into the muscles or both which causes the opening to be reduced. It can take a while for this to get better. You might consider forcing it open each day a little bit at a time.
