pain after1 week of extraction

by jessa606, Jan 17, 2008 11:46AM
I had a tooth extracted a week ago, after the first few days I felt hardly any pain.  Didn't even have to take any pain meds. Well, its been a week now and my mouth is starting to feel quite a bit of pain and pressure.  I feel like I could stick my finger in the extraction site and just scratch it because of the itchy painful pressure. My tooth that comes before the one I got extracted is hurting also.  I think I may have a partial dry socket-I have the blood clot in the extraction area but next to my other tooth there is a lil piece missing. Could this little peice missing cause me this much discomfort??  If indeed this is a partial dry socket will it go away on its own?  Oh yeah I am on antibiotics too.  ASny info would be greatly appreciated.

you need to go and have the socket packed.  The dry socket pain you are feeling will not go away on its own.  Continue with the anti's until they are gone.  You will get immdiate relief with the dry socket pack and paste.  You may need to have this done a couple of times over the course of the week.  I hope this helps.
