pain behind ear and toothaches
Hello
I had my wisdom teeth (two upper ones and one lower one) extracted 20 days ago. Three days after, I experienced shooting pain behind my ear and my dentist said it was dry socket although he said it didn't look so bad. He packed the socket with medicated packet, but it didn't help with pain until about 3 days after. By that time I I felt more shooting pain behind my ear changed to more constant electric zapping pain and my lower teeths next to the extraction sites began to ache with dull and shooting pain. and for following days the pain was spreading to teeth more in front. For all these time my dentist suspected infection and I was on antibiotics. There were days I couldn't sleep and area that pain hit changed each day. Just the other day I saw a neurologist and got Tegretol which is supposed to help the pain cuased by Trigeminal neuralgia which I have same symptoms for. BUT taking for 2 days 100mg per day didn't do anything. and yesterday I even felt some mild but still dull toothache one the other side of my face. My symptoms are generally get worst as the day goes by. and I have this constant tender point on end of my jaw line since the very beginning of the extraction.
am I descrbing typical symptoms of Trigeminal neuralgia?
so could it be some other problems like jaw infection?
have anyone experienced similar symptoms?
I have serached the web, and it seems like everyone experience different kinds of pain after tooth extraction or for Trigeminal neuralgia.
I would appreciate any comments.
