pain from permanent dental crown

i have had this crown for about 4-5 years with no problems until now. i am not sure how it happened but for some reason my crown feels like it has lifted a little and is causing alot of pain.  when i close my teeth together i only feel one side touching which is the side of the crown. it does hurt but not as much as it does when i eat. also i can feel my gums getting swollen and and a throbbing pain throughout my mouth. i dont see the dentist for a couple of days. the crown isnt broken or anything but is thee something i can do until i am seen?
