pain with temp crowns

pain with temp crowns

8 days ago, I was prepped for two crowns on adjacent molars. I have temporary crowns in.  The teeth both had some stress lines and big, old fillings.  While I experienced discomfort at night(I was given tylenol 3 for anticipated discomfort), for the first 2 days, the pain was tolerable and I only occasionally needed ibuprofen.  By day 4, I was in constant pain.  Called dentist, told to continue taking ibuprofen. By day 6, I am in constant pain with ibuprofen.  I was prescribed flurbiprofen, 12 hour tabs.  I still experience hard general pain toward the end of the 12 hours.  I am not hot/cold sensitive.  I am not particularly bite sensitive.  However, the pain gets worse when I lay down.  I have had a crown before and didn't experience any of this.Ihave had broken bones before and I am truly surprised by this level pain or that if it is caused by swelling, that I would be inflamed this long. Is this type of pain normal? Or should I be getting a second opinion.

I believe it is necessary to determine if one or both of these teeth need root canal therapy. This type of consistent pain is unacceptable, the increase in the pain when you lay down is indicative of a nerve problem.

the nerves may be inflamed. this can be reversible or not reversible. One or both of the teeth may need rot canal therapy. perhaps the preparations went to close to the nerve(s)

if not hot and cold sensitive and occlusion sensitive could be gingival inflamation (inflammation) or poor oral hygiene....
