That is true. If you do wait too long and the disease progresses further along, you will lose available bone for dental implants. But it sounds like you're very diligent with your oral health care so as long as you're always up to date on your situation, you can be better able to place the implants rather than miss your opportunity for greater success.
Thanks for your answer. I will ask my regular dentist. I've had gum disease for 20 yrs. I go for scalings and have had 4 oral surgeries. All the other areas that were affected have responded well to all this care except for my back two upper teeth. I've had the same periodontist for all this time and I don't mean to not trust her on this one but it's so expensive... Of course, I don't want to jeopardize the success of the implants by waiting too long. She warned that I might lose more bone and implants won't be an option. Oy.
Thanks anyway...
Unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with the product and don't use it at all in the practice I work. You may want to discuss your options with your periodontist in regards to regular maintainance while you wait on the dental implants.
Of course, seeking a second opinion never hurts either.
