I recently (April) had a crown put on that has bothered me ever since. I have had a "popping" sensation under it whenever I eat or drink cold things and worst of all a metallic taste. I returned to the dentist and she Ignored my claims and wanted to "fix another tooth that she thinks was causing the problem". I then saw another dentist who adjusted the length/bite of the crown, but had no idea about what was causing the "popping" sensation and the metallic taste. He told me to try to find out what metal alloy was under the crown, he said it seemed a little strange that he could sort of see thru the crown on the x-ray. The original dentists office gave me the lab sheet that came with my crown and it says that it is a predominatly base alloy and it says it's less than 25% total of Gold, Palladium, and Platinum. the somposition is as follows--Ni-61.5%, Cr-22.0%, W-11.2%, Si-2.6%, Al-2.3%. Does this mean it is 61.5% Nickel? Is this type of alloy causing me to taste metal constantly? Is this safe for me, especially since I am trying to get pregnant? Please help me figure this out, I have nowhere to turn with this and I don't know what to do. Do I just live with this? or do I have it popped off and chance having another put on and it being worse or the same? Thank you for your time.
