possible nerve damage after wisdom teeth extraction

i got my 2 bottom wisdom teeth (plus my 2nd back molar on the right side) pulled on tuesday afternoon. i remember waking up in pain and it kept getting worse.  when i got home i was able to take a percocet (and since then have been taking 1 every 3-5, depending on my sleep).  the perks help for about an hour or two max and then the excruciating
pain comes back.  the weird part about it tho, is the pain is not in my extraction sites, it is at the back right side of my tongue.  i feel like i want to cry every time i swallow.  the pain tends to radiate  up to my ear, sometimes up to my eye even and to the front of my chin.
during my consultation  the surgeon told me that my tooth was extremely close to my nerve.  i figured that if the nerve was damaged i would lose feeling (which that side of my face is tingly and i can't really taste anything), but could the pain be from nerve damage as well?
