post wisdom tooth extraction infection

Hello, Im 17 and  few months ago I had my wisdom teeth removed because they were impacted, well about 2 months later I got a very big a noticeable bump on the bottom left of my jaw line, I went in and they told me that I needed surgery and I got it right then and there. They told me food was caught in my wound and was trapped in my jaw and infected, so they gave me anti-biotic, 2 weeks worth. Well here I am nearly 2 weeks now and I was feeling fine and out of anti-biotic and im noticing swelling in the same spot starting  and this is really bothering me now. I have an appointment next week with my dentist and I imagine there going to cut me back open, clean it out, and give me more anti-biotic, I really dont want to have this problem anymore. If I do need surgery can they just cut me open, clean it out and then cauterize the area so I dont have to worry about food getting in the wound anymore? please help me :(

You can't cauterize the area to close up the wound.  I'm not sure how large the area is or how open it is.  They can try to close the wound with a suture but it depends on what it looks like.
