removal and ruse of a crown

removal and ruse of a crown

I have a cavity at the base of my lower molar crown. It was not there 6 months ago. It does not show on xray but "catches" with the probe. Can the cavity be filled without removing the crown? Can the crown be reused if it needs to be removed? The crown is 5 years old. I am 61 and have all of my teeth with excellent dental health and 6 month checkups all my life.

Probably not.  If its belong the crown margin, it has to be accessible to be filled and it needs to maintain its dryness as moisture will certainly cause a problem with a white filling.  A new crown would probably be needed and the old crown most likely removed and damaged in the process.
