risk of delaying crown when pain with temporary filling

I had a root canal more than a month ago t a periodontist I was referred to by my dentist and have been impatiently waiting for my crown appointment. Several weeks ago part of my temporary filling cracked. I called and tried to get an appointment and was told my dentist was on vacation and wasn't planning on doing my crown for another month, more than three months after my root canal, and six weeks after the filling cracked and I started getting pain post root canal. My tooth is getting worse every day but my dentist office keeps dismissing me saying root canals don't hurt. It most definitely hurts around the crack in the filling and based on what I have read on your site it sounds like I can't wait for my dentist to return and need to find a different dentist/periodontist to look at it right away. The periodontist I went to does not want to do anything without a referral from my dentist.

Not good. Why dont you try some temp fill they sell at the drug store and see if you can put that in the crack. If you had root canal there shouldnt be any roots left to cause pain. maybe you just have soemthing lodged in the crack, a food particle etc...try the temp filler until you can see your dentist.
