My husand has his back molar extracted also. It was very large and very hard to get out. It has been 5-4wks now and it is still not feeling good. The hole was very deep and he keeps getting food in it. So when I looked at it tonight, I had to clean it out. After it was cleaned out I could see that it was red on the one side and it had a white spot on the other. When I used the syringe to wash that spot it really hurt him. Could this be an infection?

He should have his  oral surgeon look at it.  Was there any reason that they did not pack it with denatured bone to preserve the jaw and suture it for a week or so?
