sensitive gums after root canal

sensitive gums after root canal

I had a root canal 2 weeks ago because of an infection in the tooth. Since then my gums and the tooth itself are sensitive .. almost a tingly feeling in the gum which radiates up the tooth. I went back to the endodontist last Friday and she put me on another course of antibiotics and said it was still infected under the tooth. I am questioning an infection because I can't really say it hurts, more of a weird sensation when I touch my face in the spot or rub the gums with my tongue. There is a lump there .. that was where the infection began I assume because it was there in the beginning of this whole mess. I have not gone for a crown yet because of this. Any suggestions?? Also, I had a cleaning and xrays 1 week prior to developing this infection in the tooth. Could the cleaning have caused it?? Any help here would be most appreciated!

It's not uuncommon that endodontic infection can result in periodontal infection.Once the root canal is completely debrided and obturated, periodontal infection will subside, unless there is a coincedent periodontal pathology .
