sons front tooth knocked out of root socket

at the e.r. he had a ct scan and nothing is broken, they pushed the tooth back up into the socket and he held it there for about 6 hours last night. it is now sunday and i cant get through to our denists emergency line. is it ok to wait til monday or should i try to find and emergency dentist? he is not in pain and the tooth looks like it used to but is still a little bit loose.

If the tooth is not moving then you can wait until Monday. The tooth will tighten up with time. The prognosis for the nerve to live is very poor and many times root canal therapy will be done immediately. Have your child on a soft diet and obviously sty off the tooth if possible. If you see the tooth extruding from the socket then you need to see someone today.

you need to see someone today regardless. if they feel this is worth trying to save, they should splint the tooth. i mean using some mesh and "sticking" it to that tooth plus a few more for stability. its hard to say if it will work or not. ive seen some last and some not. get to the dentist today, its not worth it waiting to see if it extrudes! plus you need to make sure there isnt any infection, or any other teeth that were affected by this incident.

Just checking to see how it all worked out, did your dentist splint the tooth, was a root canal done.
