strange spot on lip

I have a strange brown spot on my lip. Its not a lump and its not painfull its just a brown patch abot the size of the letter "o) on your keyboard. Its been there for about 4 months, any idea what it could be?

I think I have answered the question. See an oral surgeon or a dermatologist.
