swelling of the gums

swelling of the gums

I have swelling of the gums every month after my menstrual cycle.  Do you have any ideals what could be causing this?  I am pre-menopausal and am currently taking birth control pills to keep my cycles regular.  Could this have anything to do with it? It only last for about three days and then it goes away.

Dear Trixiel, A simple answer would be that it is associated with your hormones. It is possible that this inflammation of the gums will dissapate after menapause. If the situation remains it would behoove you see a periodontist.
