symptoms of tmj

what are the symptoms of tmj?
I notice when I open my jaw that the left side seems to go sideways while the right just open straight.
I find I clench my teeth constantly and once in awhile I get a very mild feeling of pain in my left ear that sometimes seems to include my soft palete or throat in one spot close to the left side.
sometimes the discomfort goes down my left neck and left shoulder.
twice when I fell asleep I woke up and my neck hurt and throat felt discomfort as well but went away immediately  as soon as I was fully awake. my jaw does not pop but the left side does not open as wide as the right. two finger width on the left and three fingers on the right. is this tmj?

The symptoms of TMJ dysfunction are varied and numerous. You certainly display some classical symptoms. The fact that your jaw deviates when you open gives you a reason to have this investigated. You should be seen by a doctor that specializes in TMJ therapy.
