I have a friend who just finished a university biology course and in it he was told that all types of teeth bleaching, such as whitening strips, the overnight paint on whiteners and whitening toothpastes all strip our tooth enamel forever and can lead to cavities and other problems like flesh eating of the mouth in extreme cases. Based on my own research and what my dentist has told me, the bleaching methods they use at the dentists office are completely safe and do not strip enamel off your teeth..

That being said I no longer use the over the counter products as many of them dont work very well and I have heard that some over the counter products can strip the enamel off your teeth..

If your interested in getting whiter teeth go see your dentist.. It may be more expensive but you'll be happier with the results...
