temporary crown

I had a temporary crown put on my upper right molar and it was not bad in pain but now it is worse.  Throbbing and annoying.  I have been taking Motrin 600 to 800 mgs. every 8 hours.  What can I do?  Have any suggestions?  Getting worse instead of better.

The tooth may need a root canal.  Did it have a deep cavity?  Best to back to the dentist and find out if its necessary.  Otherwise, it may be a poor fitting temporary resulting in irritation and pain in the gums.
