tongue pain

tongue pain

I burned my tongue about 2 months ago. I ate a really hot piece of food.  I sort of burned it again about a week ago.  My tongue has been hurting for 2 months.  It hurts more towards the front, usually near the tip, and it makes it difficult to speak.  Sometimes my lips, upper and lower, sometimes it hurts more on the sides of the tongue, sometimes it hurts more under tongue, sometimes it hurts on more on top of the tongue.  Sometimes it doesn't hurt.   I do need a crown on one of the lower teeth and am scheduled to have this done.  I have had a lot of other dental work as in crowns, etc.  Could this be a tooth infection at work, or related to the burning.  This is driving me nuts.

I don't think it is related to the other problems with your teeth. It could be related to the burn, it takes awhile for the tongue to heal, possibly a vitamin deficiency, or it could be hormonal in nature. I would suggest you see an oral surgeon for a consultion.
