tongue question

hello i had a question that i hope you can answer for years my tongue had a white coat on it with little red dots my tongue never hurt me at all and the coat is only ontop of my tongue none on the sides or on my cheeks i read that a white tongue can possibly mean hiv that got me scared out of my mind yesterday i brushed my teeth and my tongue and a good amout of the white stuff came off my tongue is nearly all pink with a very little amount of white stuff i admit i dont have the best oral hygiene and i do smoke daily my question is do you think my tongue is showin me a serious problem of is it normal ????i havent experienced no other hiv symptoms at all but im freaking out please if you could answer my question thank you.

just to throw this out there i cough alot of plegm up to probably do to smoking i dont know if that means any thing and like i said the coats only on the top no sores no pain please any body could you please give some input
