upper palate (bone)

i had tooth #2 removed and the swelling is starting to down in my mouth but i noticed that there is a "split" in my gums on the roof of my mouth where bone is exposed. when i run my tongue on it, i can feel sharp edges and it's very annoying. i guess the dr. cut my gum to help get the tooth out. but, what about this patch of bone that is showing? should i contact my dr about it? what could they possibly do to cover that up?

It may be small bits of bone which were left in the socket.  It may push itself out eventually. There's no need for treatment unless its hurting you.  The other scenario I imagine is that its the ridge of your jaw bone and its a little sharp.  Your dentist could go in there and smooth out the bone. But if its not hurting, you can wait for the bone to remodel but it may take a few months.
