white growth on roof of mouth for a year has grown.

I have had a small white-ish colored growth on the roof of my mouth for a little over a year now. Last Dec. my dentist said it was nothing and that was it. Said to come back if it grew. Went to the dentist last week and this time they are referring me to an oral surgeon! The lump has grown some, still isn't very big but I also have what look like broken blood vessels on the roof of my mouth (was told by ENT last year that was from my reflux) I also have a small lump on my upper lip, and my entire upper lip is covered with small white growths, was told by my derm. that this is sebaceous hyperplasia . I have no pain from any of these growths but I am really freaking out now I am afraid it is oral cancer. I am a 35 year old smoker so I am terrified that I have been misdiagnosed by some of my doctors. I go to a large dental practice and the dentist I saw last Dec. didn't even put the growth in my file so there is no info. on how big it was, color etc. The dentist I just saw also said there was discoloration by one of my teeth? Why did they make me wait a year? Oral cancer is more treatable if found early. The growth is small, not hard but I notice what look like faint lines and then a couple more small circles, is this a gland of some sort? Is there a real possibility this is cancer?

I could certainly tell you not to be worried but not seeing the lesion doesn't allow me to ease your concerns. I think you are doing the right thing by seeing the oral surgeon and I hope everything is ok and that this scare will get you to stop smoking.
