white tongue please answer

please anyone could u please answer my question i had a thick white coat on my tongue for the past week ive been using mouthwash and brushin it alot of the white stuff came off my tongue hairs look white and i still have white stuff on the back of my tongue theres nothing on the sides or bottom of my tongue i never had a pain in my tongue i jus read that a white tongue can be a symptom of hiv i never had no pain but i had the white coat for as long as i could remember i read that hairy leukoplakia shows up on the side of the tongue but yet a white coat could mean the same thing please anyone give me some input ive been experiencin heavy anxiety
