wife got novacaine shots on outer lip??

by will22, Jul 26, 2005 12:00AM
Hello, my wife went to the dentist for deep cleaning and some cavities filled, it was her 2nd appt after an initial cleaning, but they gave her numbing shots in the lip!  She's from Japan, so didn't know any better, but I have never seen that.

One was on the lower, inside lip, the other was on the outer lip, upper left area.  1 week later, there is still a mark.  I don't know what to think.  Could anyone tell me if this is normal dentisty procedures or were they doing it wrong?  thanks!

Are you sure they gave her injections outside the mouth?  If so, there may be a technique that i am unfamiliar with.  You should just ask the dentist who treated your wife.  I'm sure he or she will be very forthright about how they administer anesthesia.
