wisdom teeth and jaw pain

wisdom teeth and jaw pain

I'm 27 and my  lower left wisdom tooth had been bothering me on and off for past couple of years. All of a sudden this week I started getting really bad pain. I looked at it and its almost out. I'd say about 1/4 left to go. It came out straight but doesn't seem as if there is much room left in back of jaw. My pain is mainly associated in the jaw area running up to my ear as if I have an ear infection and down  to the lining of my gums to front of chin. I know it needs to get removed but if its almost out will the pain go away? What can I take other than Tylenol or Advil. Its not working at all?

If it doesn't completely come out, there may be food trapped in the area underneath the gum where the top of the wisdom tooth is.  Try to rinse the area out and brush back there.  It may bleed and be sensitive while you do it.  You should get the tooth out as this will be a recurring problem.  I'm guessing you have what's called pericornitis.
