i am 25 years old and last friday i had all 4 wisdom teeth removed, the bottom right one was impacted sideways and he took it out in 2 pieces. on that side it feels a like a hard ball shape is there which i believe is swelling it went down a little since i put a warm rag on it. my bottom lip on the left side, chin, and jaw is also still numb, and i can open my mouth maybe almost halfway. what i am wondering is should i try to force my jaw open more than what i can before it starts to hurt? which is what my family is telling me to do, or should i still give it some time? as for the numbness any idea about how long it lasts?

You should probably go back to your dentist/oral surgeon to discuss the numbness.

As for the difficulty in opening, definitely take your pain medications (or anti-inflammatories) that were prescribed and stretch the jaw out some.  Switch between ice pack and warm towels to help loosen the muscle.  Also, has the swelling gone down over the last few days?  If the swelling is worsening, it could indicate an infection.  Are you on antibiotics?
