wisdom teeth

by nishnish, Mar 13, 2007 12:00AM
I have overcrowded teeth and they are crooked not dramatically but crooked none the less, i heard somewhere that if i get my wisdom teeth removed that it could straighten my teeth out a little. my wisdom teeth have not come out yet and i was just wondering if that would help. i think i am a little too old for braces.

I said I think i'm too old for braces which is MY personal opinion, which i am entitled to. But that did not answer my question, but um thanks anyway

ok to answer your questions...yes eventually your teeth could straighten but if your wisdom teeth continue to come in your teeth could become more crooked

I am in the same situation but have to get my 3 out (already had one taken out previously) because from the X-rays it can be seen that they are pushing pressure on the other teeth, causing more overcrowding.  I will need to see a maxillo facial surgeon for mine though...ouch!

I am looking at getting braces after an ALF appliance to help fix jaw issues.  The ALF cannot really be seen.  But yes, it is definitely your personal opinion on what you do to your body.  I would suggest though, that you get some x-rays done by an orthodontist to see and ask their professional opinion (hopefully their opinion is professional!).  then they can lead you to some professional answers.
