wisdom tooth post op pain

by britton10, Jun 19, 2009 08:59PM
I had my wisdom teeth removed 3 weeks ago, no mojor complications with them only 1 was impacted, over the past 2 days i have noticed increased pain on the upper left side. The pain has a dull ache, but worse with touch wth my tongue and when cleansing the hole itself, should i follow up or would this or could it be r/t irritated gums from advancing my diet? I have had no major pain with this until now, could I have an infection. One more thing is there still roots after wisdom removal or are they gone as well.

The roots are most likely removed with the tooth.  They generally don't leave roots during extractions.  If they did, the dentist would most likely tell you.  After three weeks, the area should be fairly well healed.  Its a little bit more unusual to start having symptoms at this stage.  I would recommend going back to make sure there isn't anything else going on.
