i want to know if someone has 8 cavities can they be all filled at once or it has to be at different appointments?

A lot depends on where the cavities are, how big/deep, how long you want to sit in the chair.  8 cavities can be done in one appointment but it could take up to 2.5 hours and you may need to have your whole mouth numb (not a very comfortable feeling).  Usually, it's better to break up the appointments and treat one side of the mouth at a time.
