worried oral C

About 2 weeks ago I went to the Dentist for my annual cleaning.
now Ive noticed a sore area in the back of my lower gum its very hard to see but it looks like a little red sore. when i rub it with my finger it feels like two very little dots that hurt no bleeding.I am constantly rubing nmy tongue against it. ok questions

1. Dr examined me pretty good plus I had a good cleaning, said i
had a little irration in that area. would a dentist know oral cancer right away?

2. would x rays show oral cancer?? had the full one around the head about two mouths ago for mild tmj waiting for a mouth guard. also had the normal one two weeks ago.

3. can rubbing my tongue against it prevent it from healing?

4. can grinding my teeth cause sore on the gums even where my teeth dont reach. grind when i sleep.

I think if the dentist was suspicious he would have referred you to the proper doctors to check out the lesion. I would see an oral surgeon for a definitive diagnosis.

it does not sound like anything serious, especially since your dentist called it an "irritation" which is common n the mouth. If it does not resolve or if it gets worse in 10-14 days, you should go back to your dentist to have him look at it again, or yuo can see an oral surgeon or periodontist.

1.A dentist would definitely recognise oral cancer or precancerous changes.  The fact that they said there was irritation to the tissue suggests that it is purely that - irritation

2. An X ray would most likely show a tumour however an MRI/CT scan would be better diagnostically.  As would biopsy.

3. Yes, rubbing your tonuge or interfering with the irritated area say with your fingers will irritate it further, elay healing and introduce more irritants/bacteria (from your fingers)

4. Tooth on gum grinding will definitely cause a laceration/irritation.  The ensuing pressure of you grinding may cause an area of irritation not touched by your tooth but pressure from elsewhere - if that makes sense
