worried over local anesthetic for my son's tooth extraction

by nymom5, Sep 23, 2007 04:05AM
My 8 year old son had a tooth absess (abscess) and will need to have the tooth extracted.I am afraid that he will have an allergic reaction to the anesthetic that the dentist will use, because my son has asthma, allergies, and in the past was diagnosed with a heart murmur.I have heard that there is an anesthetic they can use without the ingredient of epinepherine.Am I wrong to be so worried,I don't want the dentist to think I'm being just overprotective.

When you go in for the appointment talk to the dentist about it...the heart murmer especially.  There are anesthetics that don't contain epinephrine.  Most dentists are understanding to people's questions and worries!
