Alternative to Paxil for specific problem

Alternative to Paxil for specific problem

Hello.  This may not seem like a serious question, but it is.  I went through a really bad divorce and my Doctor gave me a prescription to Paxil for about three months to help me cope with the depression.  I have readll all about it and the side effects some people say that they have.  I didn't have any at all.  It worked great for me.  But it did make it harder although not impossible to have an orgasm.  Becoming erect was and all that was still great, but you know it was harder for the end result.  Well I am off Paxil now and doing very well.  But I would like to know is there something else I can take, herbal or not that will create the same sexual dysfuction that paxil did?  I have seem a lot on the St John's being used as a anti-depressant even though their is nothing scientific to support its claims, but will it make it harder like Paxil did to orgasm?  It just seems that this is such a huge problem for a lot of men like myself, and that Paxil or something could be a little reforulated to give to people with this sexual dysfunction.  So I just basically want to know is there anything I can take herbal or not, or a prescription that is safe that is intended for this? Thanks

Chris

To my knowledge, and that of my colleagues, the answer is no there is no known medication that does what you want. Sorry.

I've been on Paxil for several years and was having the same problem with orgasms, even though I had lowered the dose to only 10mg/day.  My psychiatrist added 300mg/day of Wellbutrin and it helped the orgasm problem considerably.  I am female, so obviously the Paxil can effect both men & women.  I had tried ginko biloba (an herbal remedy that supposedly affects the nervous system) which my psychiatrist had suggested, but had no luck.  She had told me that studies show that it is successful when men use it for the orgasm problem; the study had not been validated with women.  I would never give up the Paxil to be able to achieve orgasm, but the Wellbutrin has really helped resolve this problem for me.  Good Luck.
