Antidepressant withdrawl(withdrawal)

My 10 year old has been on Adderall (adderrall) for years with no problems. Recently her Psyciatrist said she was depressed and started her on Zoloft which helped but she had side effects. Then we went with Prozac, more side effects, then to Paxil, same thing. Then we tried Serzone, what a nightmare,we started out with 50mg twice a day, no problems, then we went to 100mg twice a day and all hell broke loose. My child was an emotional mess, uncontrolably crying over nothing ( TV shows, bedtime ) she tried to jump from the 2nd story of our home, she couldn't keep a straight thought in her head. Naturally, I called her Dr. and was told to just stop the Serzone. This concerned me because everything I have read has told me that you don't just stop these kinds of medications you taper them. Well I did what the Dr. told me to and for 3 days now my child has been soooo sick, diarrhea, vomiting, a below normal temp, dizziness, she says she feels like her brain in rolling around in her head, she shakes alot. I want to know if these are withdrawl (withdrawal) symptoms or has this medication interacted with the Adderall (adderrall) she takes for ADHD. I am scared to death and her so called Dr. is no help.

Dear CJ,

Medications such as terfaridine, astemizole or cisapride are contraindicated in people taking Serzone. The most common symptoms that are seen upon discontinuation of serzone are nausea, dizziness, insomnia, asthenia and agitation. It is usually recommended to taper the dose before stopping to avoid any side effects. There is no literature showing interactions between Adderall (adderrall) and Serzone. If the symptoms are severe, impairing her functioning, I recommend you consult a child psychiatrist for a comprehensive evaluation. I hope this information is helpful to you.

Sincerely
HFHS-M.D.
