Are phobias a symptom of depression!!!!!?

I recently have gone through a very stressful situation that lasted about a year. I started to have a lot of physical symptoms over that time like nausea and fatigue plus poor sleeping. Then I began to get a major anxiety when I took the subway. It was really debilitating I my heart would race between stops, then my tongue would shake and my mouth would go numb I know it was a panic attack but it feels like a seizure. I would panic about possibly having panic. So I thought life is too short, no one is making me take the train ill just take the bus. Then when the bis would get stuck in traffic I would have a much milder experience but still get super nauseous and panicky. I learned to control it, I can get off the bus anytime so it felt easier. Then it started to manifest in elevators. I have to get on one every day to go to work and I get so panicked I sometimes have to take the stairs when going places. I really freak out especially in small ones. I've always been a little claustrophobic but not like this. I've been taking elevators and trains all my life!!! I know without a doubt that I am clinically depressed I cry in my sleep and have psychophysical reactions. I cant control my emotions at times and get really down on myself. I have come to terms with that fact, are these phobias a sign that I need medication. I cant live like this anymore!

there is no question that you need help from a therapist, and yes, medication can help, but should be part of a psychotherapy program, not just medication from an internist...The underlying tension in your mind expresses itself in all the symptoms you described, its that tension you have to resolve to get rid of all of the symptoms and get your life back.
