Birth control pills

Hello.. I've been on the pill for almost 9 years now. I first started using them because of the cists on my ovaries. Then of course as a protection. But lately, (for a year now), I don't want to use it anymore because it makes me feel sick mentally or spiritual. I don't know how to say it but it makes me unhappy, impatient, not caring or loving. I sometimes quit for 5 days (I know it's not good to just stop taking them but I can't help myself) and I feel MUCH better. I started on triphasil in states, now I'm in turkey I take triquilar. I am married and I want to have a baby but right now is not a good time. The reason I tell you this because I think maybe me wanting a baby is the reason I feel about these pills. I don't know.. Sometimes I dream about babies but I just cannot have a baby right now because of financial situations. What should I do? Thank you.

I agree with you..the most probable cause is because having a baby is now important to you at this time of your life.  Making the decision is important and talking to your husband about your feelings is also important.  We have a session on wanting a baby in the masteringstress  program(above) that might help you if you don't already have a counselor to talk to about these feelings. If you use the masteringstress program, ask for a review from me.

I agree -- birth control pills make slightly depressed or "blah".  Well, maybe not depressed, but I don't care as much about sex -- and when I don't care much about sex, something is wrong!  I know they affect me this way, because I am almost 40 years old, and I have been on and off birth control pills several times in my life -- either for protection or to slow down my endometriosis.  Of course, there are other, less effective, ways of preventing pregnancy.

yes jadzia, I know the feeling, and I began to hate the pills just because of the way they make me feel.. It was ok for a few years, but now I feel like it's wearing me out, so I've decided to get off them. Ihave an appointment withmy doctor tomorrow so we'll see how that goes

HI!!  I have switched around from one pill to the next.  I am currently on Triquilar now and I love it..... HOWEVER, because of the high progesterone level in a pill I was taking MinEstrin, I developed severe depression and now have to take anti depressants for this.  it has not bee an easy battle at all.  I strongly suggest that if the BC pill causes you unhappiness PLEASE PLEASE go and see your doctor about it.  I caught mine toooo late and have had a rough six months.  The Pill can cause severe/major depression, but you should really catch it early.  Even if you may think that it's normal, trust me its not.  Please talk to your doctor about this unhappiness. I also couldn't love, appreciate, care..etc.  I was in the same boat as you.  I wouldn't wish what I have/am going through on anyone. Good luck and take care.
