Brain Fog

I have had blood tests come back normal, but I know there is something wrong.  I'm awake, but don't feel like I'm awake.  I have been experiencing such a weird "brain fog" & I don't know now else to describe it.  I have a feeling I could be experiencing perimenopause.  My dr put me on a birth control pill that I took for almost two weeks & had to stop taking it bc it affected my legs & I was worried about blood clots.  She wants to do CAT scan next bc I've been worried about a brain tumor; she assured me I don't have a brain tumor, but will order it to ease my fears.  This is the weirdest feeling & I cannot shake it...I am really worried that I'll suddenly forget how to get home from work or foul up badly at work & lose my job.  I feel disoriented & just plain weird in the head.  I suspected that it was my thryoid, but blood tests have also ruled this out.  My B12 levels, hormone, progesterone, etc. came back normal, as well.  My ears also ring constantly, which is very irritating at night when I'm trying to get to sleep.  This has been going on for about three months & I really would like to get rid of this brain fog...please help.

Brain fog is a really tough one and can be caused by like one billion things. I have almost constant brain fog and I have been diagnosed with dysautonomia. I noticed that it is much worse during hormonal changes. Sometimes it is almost impossible to diagnose a person until you develop additional symptoms. I know that is not very comforting. If you doc runs out of ideas, then make sure that you see a neurologist, and a nice one! Neurologists can be jerks and most people have to visit more than one to find a good one.

It's not possible to help you without a diagnosis.  You're working with your doctor to get a diagnosis but if your doctor can not make a diagnosis you should consider the possibility of a generalized anxiety reaction and ask your doctor for the appropriate medication for a trial..  Often doctors will prescribe Klonopin for this purpose.
