Constant need to change meds

I have been on medication for depression and anxiety for a few years. Every few months my psychiatrist has to change my medication as they stop working. Is this common and will I ever find medication that will work long term without having to change the dosages? I'm currently on four different meds for depression and anxiety and one for hypothyroidism.

Hi, I have a question regarding the link between Tourette Syndrome and Bipolar.  I experienced a mild case of Tourettes around 11-12 yrs. old, (blinking eyes) that lasted about a year.  I have been dx w/Bipolar.  I read there is research that links Tourettes as a forerunner to Bipolar.  Your thoughts? Also as an adult, when I get really upset, emotional or depressed, I get tics under my eye that can last 2 wks. or longer...is this part of past Tourette Syndrome or just a physical response to emotions?  Thank you, Hey Jude

Hi tracey, sometimes one medication doesnt work nd it is hard constantly switching meds.  witching meds frequently could make you feel worse in general.  Sometimes medicines combined can do the trick.. i agree with roger when he states that you have to deal with it.. meaning as in learning... there are groups like dbt and cbt.  That help you conquer your issues then maybe the meds will feel like they are at least taking off the edge but extra help and support is needed when anyone has mental health issues...
