I have been seeing a psycologist for depression due to chronic pain for a year. Last visit I commented how I was sick of everything. I meant the pain, drugs, therapy because the pain is the same if not worse at times. The reaction was anger on his part and I was taken aback. I now feel that I can't comment on my feelings if they are negative in any way. Was this unprofessional on his part or is this just a over reaction on my part?

Most would consider this to be an unproductive response on his part.  You should talk to him about his response, and clearly mention that it keeps you from expressing and exploring your feelings.  If you don't get a satisfactory response, you should think about switching therapist and finding someone you can talk to freely.

this is very sad you should be able to talk about nay thing to your therapist as sick as it sounds even about suicidel thoughts.  I recomend you seek a new theripist.

If u have been seeing this phychologist for over a year you must of liked him somewhat. My problem was anger years ago when i was seeking help from a councilor, it made me mad at first but now i know it was the truth. It wasn't meant to be harsh, but to help me understand i was holding resentment and bitterness. I am not nescessarily saying this is your problem, i don't know u, but it was my pain problem. Now i am free of the pain that was constant in my neck area. Thru counciling and group therapy i was able to see that i was holding tension there because of past hurts. It's ok we all do it from time to time. We are human and we shouldn't be ashamed of it. Forgiveness was the "Key" for me.

HI,I KNOW COUNSELING HELPS MANY PEOPLE,PEOPLE HOW ARE WILLING TO BE HELPED I HAD A BREIF SESSION OF COUNSELING AND I DIDN'T GET THE MESSAGE OR THE HELP. I WAS NOT IN PAIN, I WAS VERY SUCIDAL AND THE CLOSEST APPOINTMENT AFTER THE DAY THAT I WANTED TO END MY LIFE WAS ALMOST A MONTH AWAY--- SO I WAITED AND WAITED TO THE DAY OF MY SESSION AND I WAS VERY DISAPOINTED WITH THE ONE HOUR SESSION SO I QUIT AND I IMPLEMNENTED A PLAN OF MY OWN AND IT IS WORKING. IS THERE ANY TYPE OF PHYSCAL THEREAPY THAT CAN HELP YOUR PAIN? PLEASE READ ABOUT MY PLAN UNDER THE SUDICAL HEADING--- WHAT IS THE ONE THING THAT WON'T COST YOU ANYTHING TO HAVE AND ENJOY? WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO? WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ACTION YOU MUST DO EACH DAY? FOR ME THE HOT BATH AT THE END OF THE DAY WAS THE REWARD--- IF I ACCOMPLISHED THE TASK AT HAND THEN I GOT MY BATH. IF NOT THEN I WOULD EITHER TAKE A COLD SHOWER OR NOT BATHE AT ALL UNTIL I FINSHED THE LIST. AND I PUT THINGS ON THE LIST TO IMPROVE THE FAMILY LIFE... LIKE SHOW AND TELL MY CHILDREN HOW MUCH I LOVE THEM AND HOW MUCH I NEED THEM.SPEND TIME WITH EACH ONE ON A "THEIR TIME" EACH DAY PUT ONE DOWN FOR A NAP AND LET THE OTHER ONE PAINT AND DISCUSS PICTURES AND YES I WOULD PAINT WITH HIM. THEN I WOULD PUT HIM DOWN FOR A NAP AND PLAY DOLLS WITH MY LITTLE GIRL PAINT HER NAILS FIX HER HAIR. DO THINGS THAT SHE LIKES TO DO. THEN TOGATHER ALL THREE OF US WILL WATCH A MOVIE AND TURN THAT DAMN PHONE OFF AND LET NOONE TAKE AWAY OUR TIME. WHEN IT IS ALL SAID AND DONE AND I MUST LEAVE THIS EARTH I WOULD RATHER LEAVE TWO LOVED WELL ADJUSTED CHILDREN THAN INSCURE ADULTS WITH HANG UP ABOUT LIFE AND NOT HAVING ANY MEMORY OF THEIR MOTHER AND THE THINGS THAT WE DID TOGATHER. I THINK THAT THE WAY THAT I AM  HAS BEEN FORMED BY MY PARENTS AND A VERY ABUSIVE EX-HUSBAND. I MAY NEVER RECOVER BUT I AM TRYING AND ALMOST A YEAR LATER I STILL MAKE THAT LIST OF THINGS TO  DO AND MAKE SURE I DO ALL OF THEM I HATE COLD SHOWERS AND I REALLY HATE NOT TAKING A BATH AND BEING DIRTY OR SWEATTY IS A CONSINT REMINDER OF THINGS TO DO. I HOPE THIS WILL HELP AND I PRAY THAT YOUR PAIN IS HEALED AND BEST OF LUCK DEPEND ONLY ON YOURSELF CONSIDER EVERYONE ELSES HELP A BLESSING OR ADDED BONSUS AND YOU WILL FEEL BETTER AND LESS DISAPPOINTED, NEVER LET YOURSELF DOWN--KINDA LIKE TO THY OWNSELF BE TRUE.
